Staying in DC?

Hello everyone,
Check out today's deal: http://dealsfordeeds.com/deals/todays_deal/290
You can stay in a fancy hotel in Washington, D.C. for $79 a night. That's pretty great.

The hotel is the Asante Sana Guest Quarters, and it's in northwest DC. Of course, with everything, you have to watch the expiration. It expires 6 months after you buy it. Since my wedding is in April, it would only be useful for my guests if they were coming to a shower or bachelor/bachelorette party. But for some other couple out there getting married before me, this is perfect!

I worked hard to get a room block at a hotel in Bethesda and I only got the cost down to $110 a night - so you can tell how good a deal this is!

Travel, travel, travel

Even though my wedding isn't a destination wedding, it still means people are going to have to travel. We have friends coming from the Boston area and Geoff's family is coming from California, New Orleans, and Michigan. So I've been searching for good deals for everyone. This has led me to a new discovery: Deals for Deeds. It's just like Groupon, except every time you buy a deal, a charity receives a portion of the proceeds.

Amazing!

So here's today's deal for my airport travelers: $30 for a ride from Washington National Airport to anywhere within 10 miles of DC. This is perfect! Check it out here: http://dealsfordeeds.com/

Safe travels :)

Project!

Why hello! What should I do with all those pictures after the wedding? Definitely: http://www.groupon.com/deals/picaboo-washington-dc-2?c=dnb&p=2

Maybe it's a little tacky to make photo collages and calendars, but this is my WEDDING, after all :)

Ah... it's time to talk about photography...

Well, although we are many months away, it's still a good idea to start thinking about photos. I'm not the artsy-scrapbooking-come-look-at-every-picture-in-my-photo-album type, but I still want some quality pictures. I mean, who knows? Maybe one day I'll be a crazy grandmother who makes my grandchildren look at my pictures while I knit! Periodically, groupon has great deals for prints, like this one: http://www.groupon.com/washington-dc/. I've also seen deals for the actual photographer, which I think might end up being a better deal. Unfortunately, some of the deals expire around January, so I'll have to keep checking back later to find one I can use in April. Wish me luck!

Too early to talk about the Honeymoon?

I didn't think so either! I'm going to be continually searching through this website: http://www.groupon.com/washington-dc/getaways?d=travel_countmein. Hopefully something will show up in Hawaii!

Geoff has been to Hawaii and he has told me about the different islands - which has too many tourists, which has the best island culture, which has the best nightlife - and I completely forget. So I won't buy one of these until I talk to my consultant, I promise :)

Invites

Hello,
Here are the two main styles I'm choosing from based on the invitation groupon. Thoughts?

Weddings are Expensive!

Hello all,
I've been dealing with how expensive my wedding is getting, so I've been looking for ways to cut costs. I discovered that Groupon has deals that I can use!
Check out this one:
http://www.groupon.com/ch/home-and-garden/deals/earthy-invites-dc?c=dnb&p=4
So if I buy $200 worth of invitations - which I surely will - it will only cost me $99. The website also happens to be eco-friendly. The invitations are made from post consumer recycled papers and soy ink! Cheap and green! What could be better!

My wedding is in April, so as I go forward, I will be posting more and more about how I am saving money!

Thanks for reading.
